Standard BGF2-Team sucht Artists für alle Bereiche

Hallo,

Dear Crysis-Modder,

it is a pleasure for me to announce the development of Battlegroup - Frontlines 2" (BGF2), a world war II mod for Crysis. BGF2 is the successor of "Battlegroup - Frontlines"(BGF), a famous World war II mod for the game Battlefield 2. I'd like to use this thread to seek for new members for BGF2 too, but let us begin with some introducing words first.

BGF2 is a Crysis-Mod, going to be developed by some dedicated members of its forerunner, BGF. The goal of BattleGroup - Frontlines 2 is to shift the players of Crysis back to the Second World War. Our BF2-Homepage is Link gesperrt A Crysis-Homepage is already in development (Link gesperrt Forum -> Link gesperrt ). BattleGroup - Frontlines 2 will feature an extremely authentic atmosphere. Features include:

- Historically accurate vehicles, aircraft, and weapons
- Realistic and accurate sounds
- Realistic weapon aiming aiming and firing physics
- Famous battlefields, but also a lot of infamous battles (our aim is not only to do battles like D-Day, Stalingrad, Midway, Citadel etc..... you´ve seen that so often in every ww2-game or mod)

Our team's goal of realism is an ambitious one, with the need of incorporating accurate striking powers and ranges of weapons. Naturally, a few things will need to be amended for the sake of quality gameplay, but with realism still held to the highest standard. We believe that it is possible to incorporate both incredible realism and exciting gameplay, and BattleGroup-Frontlines 2 will achieve that balance.

Our first Release will be set on the italian front. We have decided to develop this front, because it hasn't been seen in too many games it features four very famous armys, the german, the US, the british and the canadian army plus lots of smaller armies which will go into further releases. The italian Front features very many types of battles including close quarter town battles (Battle of Ortona, aka known as "Small Stalingrad"), beach landings (Battle of Anzio, Operation Avalanche/Slapstick/Baytown, german counterattacks (Operation Fischfang), air and naval battles (parts of Operation Husky -> the invasion of sicile) and nightfights (Battle of Cisterna). Our current team includes one experienced texture-artist, one experienced texture-artist/level designer, one 2d-artist/webmaster, one animator, two modelers (who still need to finish work for BGF1) and one historican. As already said before we do have a homepage -> Link gesperrt (BF2) / Link gesperrt (Crysis). We also have one ftp with unlimited filespace, sponsored by our friends at filefront.com and one ventriloserver to have voice-chats. Our language in the internal forums is english (Link gesperrt). We will soon establish one SVN-Server too, which is necessary for quicker development. We do also have an Online Event-Manager called BEM (Betatest Event Manager), that helps members to organize betatests in the future.

You can check our old work at BGF on our homepage. Although the graphics are not so good compared to crysis, they are realldy good for a BF2-Mod. Some of the stuff can and will be used at BGF2 to speed up development. Anyway, we will mainly do our own new things.

Some examples of BGF that can be used for BGF2.

We are making no secret about the fact that our main goal is to develop the best Crysis-Mod and a world war II mod that doesnt need to hide from mods like Red Orchestra or Forgotten Hope. We are working hard to reach our goals. We will reach them with our working philosophy, which follows the motto "WANT & MUST". Before we actually start to work we are making plans on what we want to develop (which vehicles etc..). Our members will decide what they WANT to do. There will still be things which MUST be done (big importance in world war II etc..). With that motto our members will be kept happy and dont lose their fun to work. Good PR is also important. It is almost as important as the actual work. Due to our long work in previous mods we know how PR works. We have a good feeling for what should be shown in the next update, how to satisfy people most and when to start to change our pictures from renders to ingamescreenshots. The PR-effect will be increased with graphic-templates and more stuff. Interviews, videos or special events are also PR and will not be neglected. And off course a good relationship to the newspages has to be kept, as they are the people that make mods famous.

This was the presentation of BGF2. We hope we have given you a little of what we are planning and you have been exited or maybe even infected. If you are not modding be sure to not forget us and visit our homepage quite often. We will tell you about the current progress of the mod for sure.

Now to the recruiting. We are always willed to bring the community the best graphics, sounds and code we can do. Next to good gameplay this is one of our main focus. But to keep the quality on a certain level or to even increase the quality from time to time we are in need of qualified and skilled artists, who also have lots of fun in creating things and working in a team. Our philosophy is clear: We try to keep our members happy. happy members + no strict schedules = great quality and no sloppy work. Also members who were in the team for a long time and did much for us, but have to leave the team still have their access to see hopw their old and beloved mod progresses and to support the team with their big knowledge. They are our friends and not only some virtual roboters.

So right now we are looking for experienced and skilled modelers, who are able to model high quality vehicles, handweapons or statics. We are also looking for skilled texture artists. If you have other talents which I didn't mention be sure to still tell it us!! We have open slots everywhere and will read every application for sure! If your interested please send an application to Link gesperrt or write an application in our forum.

This is an excellent way to break into the gaming world. Big gaming companies like EA and Valve often hire from mod groups, like Trauma Studios, Counter Strike, and Red Orchestra for example (all of which started out as modding groups). Many companies do not require former moddingwork, but its a definete PLUS. You have alredy learned in a way to work with a team, to follow rules and to finish orders and even more -> to develop a game. YES, A good mod is nothing less or more than a game!
Also, it is much easier to become recognized by working within a mod group, rather than as a freelance artist/modder...which is all the more reason to join us!

Everything important should be said for now. We hope it is not too much text to read and we hope we could give you a nice introduction to the Mod.

Best Regards,
Denes Steinbach (Tomcraft)
Leader and Project Manager of BGF2

Good luck.
